Transmission
Transmitted by a vector; an insect;
Aphididae. Transmitted in a semi-persistent manner (1/1). Virus lost by the
vector when it moults (1/1); not transmitted congenitally to the progeny of the
vector (1/1); requires, for vector transmission, a helper virus (1/1);
transmitted by mechanical inoculation; not transmitted by seed (1/1); not
transmitted by pollen (1/1).
Experimental host range
Several (3-9) families
susceptible.

TIP:
57.5-61.87-65 °C. LIV: 1-3.25-7 days. DEP: log10 minus 3 (1), or 4, or 5 (1).
Leaf sap contains few virions (1/1).
Particle morphology
Virions isometric; not enveloped
(1/1); 31 nm in diameter; rounded in profile (1/1); without a conspicuous
capsomere arrangement (1/1).
Physical properties
One sedimenting component in purified
preparations (1), or two sedimenting components in purified preparations (1);
sedimentation coefficient 153-156-159 S; of the other(s) 60 S.
Density 1.297-1.393-1.49 g cm-3 in CsCl. A260/A280 ratio
1.46-1.597-1.67.
Biochemical properties
Virions contain 40 % nucleic acid.
Genome consists of RNA; single-stranded. Total genome size 9.871 kb.
Genome unipartite; largest (or only) genome part 9.871-9.935-10 kb.
Features of proteins
Virion protein(s) three;
Mr 29000-30700-32000. Mr of 2nd largest 25000-26370-29500.
Mr of 3rd largest 22700-24100-27000.
Replication
Replication does not depend on a helper virus
(1/1).
Cytopathology
Virions found in cytoplasm (1/1).
Inclusions present in infected cells (1/1); are membranous bodies (1/1); they
contain virions (1/1).
