Transmission
Transmitted by a vector (1/1); an insect
(1/1); Aphididae (1/1). Transmitted in a non-persistent manner (1/1). Virus
transmitted by mechanical inoculation; transmitted by grafting (1/1); not
transmitted by contact between plants (1/1); not transmitted by seed (1/1); not

Physical and
biochemical properties
Properties of particles in sap
TIP:
65-66.75-70 °C. LIV: 3-3.25-4 days. DEP: log10 minus 3-4. Infectivity of sap
not changed by treatment with di-ethyl ether (1/1). Leaf sap contains few
virions (1), or contains many virions (1).
Particle morphology
Virions filamentous; not enveloped;
usually straight (1), or usually flexuous (1); with a clear modal length; of
657-664.5-672 nm; 13-13.75-16 nm wide. Axial canal obscure. Basic helix obscure.
Physical properties
One sedimenting component in purified
preparations; sedimentation coefficient 155-156-158 S. Density
1.307-1.316-1.33 g cm-3 in CsCl. A260/A280 ratio 1.04-1.065-1.09.
Biochemical properties
Features of proteins
Virion protein(s) one;
Mr 32600-38800-45000.
Replication
Replication does not depend on a helper virus
(1/1).
Cytopathology
Virions found in cytoplasm. Inclusions
present in infected cells; are amorphous X-bodies (1), or pinwheels.
